Meet Catherine
In 2012, Catherine and her husband relocated to Jenks, drawn by the city's charming downtown, excellent school system, and ease of accessibility. Since then, Catherine continued her love for volunteering as an active member of the community, volunteering as a home room mom, managing her daughter's competitive soccer team, and working as a teacher's helper and spirit shop volunteer.
Catherine's commitment to non-profit community service extends to her dedication for preservation as she has served as a Trustee for the Price Tower and as a Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Trustee serving on governance and development committees.
In 2020, the City of Jenks caught her eye as she began viewing city council meetings after being approached to be on the planning commission. Her family and non-profit commitments kept her busy, however, She continued to delve into the city’s comprehensive master plan.
Two years ago, a proposed development served as a catalyst for her to do a deep dive into the layers of how a city functions. During this time she organized and helped found the grassroots organization, known as the Jenks Coalition for Smart Growth JCSG. The JCSG sought to mobilize members with the hopes of contributing to the Jenks identity conversation. It was around this time The Ten District was gaining traction. The JCSG created significant conversation planning, development and the financial process from those in power. Their presence within the community forced more communication from the city to its residents.
Rather than focusing on only one aspect of the city’s planning and development, Catherine set out to gain a diverse range of knowledge as she continued on her civics journey. One of the most productive ways was speaking with residents from all districts to gain multiple viewpoints. She consistently attended city council and city planning meetings, town halls, various education sessions, and legislative luncheons hosted by the Jenks Chamber of Commerce and Moms for Liberty. Catherine went even further meeting with officials from the OK House of Representatives, Tulsa County Commission and Jenks Public Schools and Republican Women’s Club of South Tulsa.
